8 days since my last post breaks my own weekly post rule!My friend Jess, from my post about music and la oreja de van gogh, has started her own blog! She doesn't know anyone in the blogosphere yet - say hi?

Hot chocolate barely needs description to become a necessity in these cold Winter months. Summer needs ice cream, and winter needs drinking chocolate. The Aztecs started the fashion a long time ago, even before bars of chocolate. It was a bitter, spicy drink (unrecognizable today) And the aztecs didn't even serve it with chocolate biscuits, whipped cream or marshmallows!

Recent studies show that the beverage has many health benefits thanks to the cocoa in the instant chocolate powder. This has antioxidants, just like those found in red wine and tea (don't you just love those antioxidants?) and until the 19th century it was even used medicinally to treat stomach diseases and prevent catarrh- if successfully I don't know.
In Spain they drink hot chocolate much thicker than we do, and often eat it with churros. I love churros - it's fried batter rolled in sugar.
I think we're all going to need a bit of heated chocolaty upliftence as November drags through to December which goes on to January. Its not getting any warmer, not for at least another 3 months - 90 whole days. Or at least, it won't unless you indulge in a delicious, steaming cup of sweet, sugary, chocolaty goodness...

You can't even find the hot chocolate through all that. I don't have the patience for heating milk without scorching it, so I use the much simpler water version. I don't drink it much here at home, because I have plenty of blankets to snuggle up under if I get that cold.
There are days at work where I get so chilled, I have to make hot chocolate and even turn on a small space heater under my desk.
I really need to move someplace warmer!
Gotta love hot chocolate! :)
We get some of the different flavoured ones too... Mint, hazelnut, orange... Some of them aren't all that good, but the ones I named are. There's a kind of low calorie one called "options" that's really good and comes in some really tasty flavours. I love all the cream, marshmallows, etc with the hot chocolate, but will happily drink it without too. I tend to leave having those extra bits until around Christmas time... As a special treat... Because too much cream makes me ill.
Goodness...one could go into diabetic shock with all that extra! I use the water version too but use milk instead of water. I dont bother taking the time to put it on the stove...just stick the mug of milk in the microwave and heat it that way. I tend to doubt I'm going to be allowed to have it this year unless I substitute in the sugar-free kind.
The closest I come to hot chocolate is occasionally adding some of the powdered chocolate to my coffee and wala! an instant Mocha! Cute post.
GOTTA LOVE HOT CHOCOLATE!!! I love drinking it while we play Scrabble (man, I'm old!!)
You need a bigger mug, then you could put even more stuff in it!
Yummy Hot Chocolate! You know its even better with peppermint flakes, the cool sensation combined with the heat of the drink is Amazing!! Although its not Hot chocolate weather in California...the high was 87 degrees!
Lame Weather for November
Btw... I visited your friend's blog. Couldn't leave a comment though... Word verification is on.
I visote her blog! I am always looking for kids my age around the blogosphere! I love hot chocolate but no cream or marshmallows!
I enjoy an occassional cup of instant Swiss Miss when it gets cold - but...I think those anti-oxidents do like me....
And Wife is right you need a MUCH bigger CUP!!!
The pictures I have of my hot chocolate make it look almost saintly!
ChicagoLady: Sometimes I think exactly the same as you, because of the cold weather. But there's always a time for hot chocolate!
Tori: The weird flavours are always so appealing. I once had a caramel hot chocolate at Starbucks. Options is great too - the little sachets are so cute! we took some on our Duke of Edinburghs award and ate them dry because we couldn't be bothered to boil any water - surprisingly nice! Oh, and have asked Jess about word verification.
Ladsystyx: Hot chocolate is actually quite low calorie as a chocolate treat (but you might have to exclude the funky extras and go Aztec-stylie). :D
Punkn: Fab idea! I like mocha too.
Wifey: I do need a bigger mug! My dad has this flowerpot-esque blue Simpsons one. I may need to acquire it...
Meme: Oh no. Poor you. Sun in November, living in California. How awful. Peppermint flakes sound unusual - I've never come across them before. Are they green?
Kaylee: You should totally go for the cream and marshmallows. The road to happiness is paved with whipped cream!
IG: Rock on the cocoa loving! Big cups all round! :P
xx Wow, long comment!
Oh, yeah! The hot chocolate in Starbucks is to die for!!! My Mam and I are going Christmas shopping on Friday, and since we're passing a Starbucks I've already told her we're going in there for one of their cups of hot chocolate. ;)
And... Thanks for asking her about the word verification for me. If all her posts turn out to be as interesting as her first one then I'd like to be able to visit her blog and leave comments. :)
wow, the picture looks amazing...I want some right now!!! i cant wait for it to actually get cold in Las Vegas (Im thinking around X-Mas, so I can start drinking it!
mmm...hot chocolate... if i was feeling better, i'd go drink some of the stuff i bought on my recent shopping trip.
for now, i'll stick to my tea though and let hubby drink the hot chocolate!
hope you don't get any worse!
